That was my main reason for buying a Feather AC DX. I can leave the blades in my checked baggage, and the razor holder in my carry on.
Now if they can keep from breaking my bottles of after shave I should be good to go.

Sadly, I usually bring a DE on my travels. I like to
pack as lightly as possible, and I don't own any
niceties like a paddle-strop/razor-box. Perhaps in
the future I'll buy one and another straight razor
to pack for travelling.

When I fly I take a cheap Wapi with me in checked-in luggage, good shaves and if it goes missing I dont really care.... its cheap remember.

Newspaper make for a very reasonable strop for 1 or two weeks.

Regardless of whether they recognize it or not, is straight is still a sharp knife.

I bought a feather specifically for the purpose of traveling.
It is not so nice to shave with, but you also don't have to care about humidity, stropping, loss, ...

Air travel has gotten to be such a roll of the dice for baggage, I'm now traveling as light as I can to avoid checked bags. Obviously that means leaving my straights at home . My last trip a couple of weeks ago, I took a dissassembled DE, with no blades, planning to buy some at the local CVS at my destination. I thought I would make it easy for the TSA folks and put the razor parts in the clear plastic bag with my carry on liquids. That just led them to ask questions about the razor parts (again, no blades), wanting me to take the end cap off the DE screw on handle. Asking me if I had blades, etc. I mailed it and my purchased blades home to avoid the same thing on my return flight. I'm on the road again soon and will mail the razor and blades ahead of me and back when I return. Beats getting slowed in security, and worth it to not shave with a hotel disposable. Such is life in the air these days. I could mail the straights the same way, but my routine is so broken when I travel, I just settle for the DE.

I'm sure someone here posted about a problem taking a razor with no blade through customs in their hand luggage. Can't remember if it was here or a different forum though.

When a bomb detector went off on me in Miami (I still have no idea b/c I don't even remember going near fertilized lawns), they went through my luggage. Had 2 cheap straights in the checked luggage and 1 disassembled Gillette Tech in the carryon. The TSA guy asked me whether I had blades in there as well, but they were in the checked luggage so he didn't make me take it out or anything like that.
