Howdy y'all
Just figured I'd say hi and introduce myself. My name's Jim, and I'm returning to the world of straight razors after a 10 year slump of using a mach III. I'm a combat medic in the US Army, currently deployed on my third tour in Afghanistan. I'm 28 years old, and husband to an amazing woman, Randi. I just ordered a solingen revisor 5/8 hollow ground straight blade from www.classicshaving.com, along with a strop, soap, cup, and brush. I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival. (And anticipating the strange looks I'll get from the guys when I'm nonchalantly stropping my blade in the latrine!)

building my "stable"
I've just had the privilege of purchasing two more razors from www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk. One is a Western States Cutlery "Gold Nugget" 5/8 square point, and the other is a Madag of Solingen 6/8 round point travel razor. The gentleman who operates the site, Steve, was most helpful in overcoming a minor technical difficulty. I highly recommend this site for any and all who are looking for a new addition to their shave den.

Thanked: 13245Welcome to the fold Jim and thank you for your service!!!!
I hope you will find this community as fun and as helpful as ever...
The Revisor and the Gold Nugget I know to be great shavers, the Madag I'm not familiar with, but it is a Solingen blade so it should be fine....

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome, gents, and also for the support. It's always good to hear/read that there are people out there who back us up over here, contrary to what the news media's always preaching.

Welcome aboard Jim. Classicshaving.com is a great place to get your goodies. If I were you I'd also get either a finishing hone or a pasted paddle strop to touch up your blade every 5-15 shaves. Get Lynn's CD while you're at it. It's a very instructional tool.
