I had relatively few cuts over the last month plus until this morning. Got distracted as my kids were going to school and opened a one inch cut right across my carotid artery! Looks really nasty right about now since it has scabbed up.

If anyone at my office was thinking about coming over to a straight razor, I'm pretty sure they think differently now. General consensus is that I will slit my throat one of these days.

My favorite conversation on it tonight came at my kids' science fair. I was talking to a buddy of mine who looking at the gash asked "cut yourself shaving?". I said "Yep" He said "Wow. Big cut". I said "Big blade! You gotta use a real razor to do this kind of damage." To which he replied, "never used a straight razor, don't have the nerve."

This I think goes to a big part of why I enjoy this. It's the focus and danger when you don't focus. I think I'll rename this "Extreme Shaving" Maybe I better not as prices for nice razors will get even higher.

If you haven't cut yourself yet you aren't really trying... Sometimes it happens, and after 9 months of straight razor shaving I have my share of cuts. Usually I cut myself by going to fast or losing concentration. Either way sucks big time. Luckily they heal, and hey! Chicks dig scars...

Alum block and styptic pens are my best friends when I get cut... I just picked up a alum block from classicshaving and scored 5 styptic pens from ebite...

Been shaving since 10/5/7 and thankfully only a few scrapes now and then..

I've been shaving with a straight for a month now and have more than my share of nicks & cuts. At one point I had to stop and count the old & new wounds just to get through the denial..11. Now I'm better because I have slowed down and learned to take the blade away from my face at the least distraction. I have a couple albums by a group called "Dismember", but I really have no desire to listen to them while shaving

I love RAM, though to be honest, I only have that particular CD.
It was wildly popular when I was at the age of going to parties.

I've been doing this for about two weeks myself, and only twice have I had a shave with no nicks, and only once have I had a cut where I had to apply pressure because the styptic wouldn't stop the flow of blood. My mustache area and the areas around the corners of my mouth have proven to be very difficult for me, so I typically handle those with my trusty 1965 Gillette Slim Adjustable.

I shave with relatively few razors at one time so when i work on a new one for someone I cut myself cause I try to treat it like the ones I have been using for a while. Its a not paying attention thing. They are only the little red lines or a tiny bleeder for a second and then gone but it is still annoying.

Heck, I listen to Bad Brains, Black Flag, and a few others along that same vein!!

But I like to soften the edges a bit an occasion with some Verdi
