Yet another first-timer...
I recently procured one of the shave sets from classic shave (http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...1/3874878.htm).
It came with the razor (Dovo 5/8th), leather/linen strop, brush, mug, and Lynn's DVD. I emailed with the folks at classic shaving to see whether I should have it sent to Lynn enroute to me. The guy told me that it should be good to go. I tried shaving with it today and I think it might need to be honed. The shave wasn't very close and my face is currently burning up with razor burn. I didn't even get to the cross grain strokes because my face hurt so much. I also hadn't shaved in a week or so, so the hairs were pulling some. I wasn't sure if the problem was the blade itself, or perhaps my whiskers were just too long.
Has anyone else gotten one of these sets? Comments?
I know one can utilize Lynn's service through Classic Shaving. I'm beginning to think I should do so. Any advice is appreciate.
Cheers,
LBX

As a newbie here (been lurking for a week or so), I've noticed quite a few posts about the "shave readiness" of online stores... In fact, there's a FAQ regarding just that.
Bottom line? Yeah, send it to Lynn or any other of the honemeisters here to really get it shave ready...

Yes, it needs to go to the hone....classicshaving actually has an option to send theirs to Lynn for $20.....I'm surprised they said it would be OK the way it is. Contact Lynn and send it out - you won't be disappointed!
