Not sure what to do....
Well, I'd like to get started into str8 shaving as soon as I can, but a problem with my vehicle surfaced last night and it appears that my original startup plans got all shot. With that in mind, I started looking at cheaper razors and whatnot, and ran into an issue (besides the difficulty in finding a reasonably priced, shave-ready razor)....
What do I use for a strop? Tony's just plain' ole sold out on the starter ones, which caught my eye after the money difficulty popped up. And that brings me to my question:
Should I just try to be patient for however long it takes Tony to restock, or can I figure out the razor situation and use something until I can get one of Tony's strops?
I'm hoping you guys can provide some help/insight that I seem to be lacking here. I'm probably just being too impatient.

Thanked: 3I've seen people recommend using a leather belt in similar situations - if you have one that is sufficiently strop-like that is.

From talking to Tony yesterday, he's only taking orders on the first few days of the week so that he can fulfill orders during the rest of the week - in other words, he's trying to stay ahead of his orders, and his needs of material (correct me if I'm wrong Tony!)
So if you can wait until next Monday (or maybe the end of this week), you should be able to place an order for a strop form Tony.
Of course, this community seems to be the nicest online community I've ever been on and there probably will be someone to offer something for you in the meantime...
As far as straight razor shaving goes in general... the more patience you have, the better your results will be.

We will relist stuff again in a few days, maybe Thursday or late Wednesday night. Just need to pack a lot of stuff from yesterday.

Ooh! I didn't know Tony was doing that. If it's just another week, I can handle that, no problem.
And I do have to agree with you on the community. I've been a part of many different kinds of online communities, and this is by far the nicest one I've ever been a part of. The guys here are just awesome.
And I know that I'll be infinitely patient when holding a super-sharp blade to my neck.

You can use any smooth leather strap-like object, or in a pinch, a few guys use folded newspaper.
