    Default OK got my str8...

    ok got my str8 on it's way with extra pre-honed option from http://www.vintagebladesllc.com/vsho...oductid=693:nj
    now i need to get a decent but not expensive strop... suggestions?
    also have me a brush (walmart)
    and shave soap (walmart)
    and will need a decent Norton 4000/8000 stone .... suggestions?

    Get a pasted paddle to keep your razor sharp, and then get a practice razor and the Norton combo, that way you won't mess up your shaving razor when you learn to hone.

    As was mentioned, the strop from Tony Miller
    at The Well Shaved Gentleman. The starter strop
    is only $30.00. As for the Norton 4k/8k you
    could go to www.theperfectedge.com. I think
    you'll find that price to be the lowest and the
    owner is a member here.

    You can keep razors sharp for a long, long time with a pasted strop. Easy (its the same stropping routine) and cost-effective. I use a plain piece of leather with a strip of electrical tape in the middle to provide separation between the two halves. One half has boron carbide, the other has chromium oxide. Lots of guys use diamond abrasives, with 1.0, 0.5 & 0.25 being the most common.
