    Hello,

    I've been lurking here for quite some time. My wife bought a straight razor for my birthday (dropping hints really works.)
    She bought a basic Dovo, I just ordered an Artisan strop from Tony at thewellshavedgentleman.com

    I've shaved about 4 times so far, making 3 passes each time. I definately need a strop to get a better result. But so far, so good.

    I've enjoyed reading the various posts here, it has been helpful.

    Welcome! It sounds like you're off to a good start, with a reasonably willing wife. I can't say that will last once the RAD sets in though... If you still have any unanswered questions, feel free to bring up a new thread, or join us Sunday nights in chat for a live discussion.

    My girlfriend really doesn't want me to do this, but seeing as she doesn't live with me and there are no rings involved yet....I'll do what I durn well please, thank-you-very-much!

    welcome to SRP. Did u get that Dovo honed before you started to shave with it ? The stropping will definitley help in giving you a better shave.

    Order a alum block or styptic pen.

    I finally got a razor, prior to that, I couldn't think of anything to ask.
    Moderators see everything. Ha,ha. I've been viewing this forum for awhile.
    I'll end up with plenty of questions over time.

    My Dovo was right out of the box. Not the most pleasant shaving experience. with great care I've done it a few times. I can't wait for my strop to get here.
    I took your advice and went to the store, I just got a styptic stick.
