Thread: Disposable Straight

I have been using a cheap razor with disposable blades. Would I notice a huge difference after paying for a real razor? My skin is sensitive so my problem is razor burn and in-grown hairs. I have been using taylor pre-shave, cream and moisturizer.

By "a cheap razor with disposable blades", I suppose you mean something that takes some sort of razor blade that needs replacing probably once every two weeks. I find that these sorts of blades are often rougher on the skin and a little tricky to use their first time. I think of it is as a "hard" edge, if only to mean that the edge is so fine that it's super-duper scary sharp, which is unnecessary. Straight razors, true, one-edge-for-life straights, are a little more forgiving: sharp enough to shave perfectly, but "soft" enough on the face. I think a move to a straight razor isn't a bad move to consider, but there is a definite learning curve. Stay put for other opinions, though.

I've always had a problem with ingrowns....until I switched to my straight razor. My beard is very coarse and my skin is pretty tempermental (sensitive) so I wasn't sure how it would all work out, but I'll never use a disposable razor again!

I will start looking for a "real" razor and throw these cheap blades out!
