Finally...a picture-perfect bloodless shave!
Y'all may remember I've been at it for about 3 weeks now (for those who don't know me, I'm the middle-aged woman with high testosterone who messed up and played around with steroids 25 years ago and thus, I have to shave.)
FINALLY, today, a perfect shave...absolutely zero nicks or cuts, not even a minor "uh-oh!" Just good, clean, smooth sailin'!
It's a wonderful feeling, knowing exactly how to get the razor just right, and then how to shave, and knowing just what parts of my face (sideburns and chin and upper neck) need a relather and an XTG.
Also, slowing down and taking the time to take short, easy strokes and not expecting to cut a huge swath 2 inches wide. On my neck, it's like 1/4" or 1/2" wide strokes to get everything BBS.
Soooooooooo niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
What a wonderful experience that was!
P.S. Before that famous shave, I shaved my legs with my Designated Legs Straight Razor (a Case Red Imp), and while it wasn't BBS, it's getting much better. Only one small cut on one leg!
Yay!

Wow. To think if I had to shave my face and my legs.... and in my case it would have to be my chest, and my arms, and my back... hang on can someone even shave their own back with a straight?
Nice work on the good shave btw

Thanked: 7That's great! Thanks for letting us know how you're getting on, when it works it really works doesn't it.
Just out of curiosity: I assume this was with your extra hollow - did you get it honed by an expert or is it still your own honing?

Yes, it was, and JoshEarl honed it for me.
But I think my own honing and stropping has come up to speed, since I did my own Case XX Red Imp, the one I did my legs with.
I'm alternating between the Dovo Prima Klang extra hollow, another Dovo extra hollow (the Kotten), and a nice oak rustic handle one that Mike Ratliff sold me and honed for me. Oh, and I have 3 new ones honed by Lynn--2 Dovos and 1 TI stainless. Plus, an ebay Boker.
Yes, it's VERY nice. Makes it all a wonderful experience, when I don't really NEED that Thayer's!
