Thanked: 7That's great! Thanks for letting us know how you're getting on, when it works it really works doesn't it.
Just out of curiosity: I assume this was with your extra hollow - did you get it honed by an expert or is it still your own honing?

I have caught myself thinking that more than a few times. I've always been very hairy. I remember at age 20 going through a ward on the way to the shower in the VA hospital and some old WW2 vet saying,"Dahm..If I had half as much hair on my chest as you got on your back I'd be happy!"

Yes, it was, and JoshEarl honed it for me.
But I think my own honing and stropping has come up to speed, since I did my own Case XX Red Imp, the one I did my legs with.
I'm alternating between the Dovo Prima Klang extra hollow, another Dovo extra hollow (the Kotten), and a nice oak rustic handle one that Mike Ratliff sold me and honed for me. Oh, and I have 3 new ones honed by Lynn--2 Dovos and 1 TI stainless. Plus, an ebay Boker.
Yes, it's VERY nice. Makes it all a wonderful experience, when I don't really NEED that Thayer's!

Really good work!
Now if you don't mind I'll let my wife know your shaving success and maybe she'll get into str8's for her legs.
No, wait. She'll want to raid my Shave Den!
Never mind.
Once again, well done!

Somebody want to help me out and spell out that ever-present-on-SRP acronym, "RAD?" I'm guessing "razor acquisition disorder," is that right?
I've gotten to the point that my idea of how to relax includes a nice hot soak in the tub, followed by a shave. I guess it's the focusing of the mind that occurs when I have to narrow my focus to the blade and skin, but it sure takes my mind off of my day and relaxes me before bedtime! And of course, the wonderful scents from Mama Bear, Colleen, and Castle Forbes contribute greatly to relaxation...mmm, good scents!Last edited by YesSheDoes!; 02-12-2008 at 03:28 PM.

Thanked: 7Quite an impressive case of RAD in fact.
Sadly I think I'm starting to succumb as well, my new Dovo (faux MoP) is away being honed even as I write and should be back by Friday - I'm childishly excited and have already planned things out so I'll have several days worth of stubble ready for Saturday morning!

but YOU CAN NOT GET RID OF THE THAYERS!!! that is the one staple that must remain constant throughout eternity with straight shaving!
