    Default Quality or from Pakistan

    Hi all,

I am a new member to the site and am looking to buy my first straight razor. My grandfather always used a straight razor and think the tradition behind it all is awesome, not to mention I hear there is no other shave like it. I ran across the following on ebay and ordered it, but fear I may have jumped the gun. The link is:

I have heard that there are Solingen razors out there that are really made in Pakistan. I was wondering if this was a good or bad purchase and wether or not it was actually crafted in Solingen. I appreciate any input or just general advice for that matter.

    Thanks,
    A.J.

I think its safe to say that you have made an excellent purchase and no, that is not a Paki piece of crap. You could have bought about 100 Pakis for that price

EDIT: I strongly recommend you send that out to one of our local honemeisters to have it professionally sharpened. Otherwise your first shave will more than likely be rather uncomfortable and perhaps off putting.

    Nice purchase BTW.

+1, It is very rare that a razor sold that is not listed as "shave ready" will be actually shave ready. Sharpening a razor is not as simple as sharpening a knife. Please, do not use that electric knife sharpener on the back of your electric can opener!

I agree with OLD_SCHOOL, you nailed a very good quality razor that looks to be in great shape for a very fair price.!

BTW WELCOME TO THE SRP! You are in the right place to learn about the manly art of authentic shaving!
