"You've got to be crazy..."
So, these past couple of weeks, this has been the reply I have gotten from every single man or woman that I told about my plan to learn how to shave with a straight razor.
Except my wife. "Oh, cool. I used to watch my grandfather shave with straight razor when I was a little girl."
Her grandfather had long since passed. Apparently, he'd sit with his feet up on the porch every morning, with a mirror, a wash basin, and a cup of soap, and shave with his old ivory handled razor.
Of course I was happy to hear that.
"Sweetie... do you think all that stuff is still lying around someplace?"

Thanked: 0I was getting the "Oh, isn't that cute..." reactions when I told people I was starting to use a DE. Now when I tell them I'm going to try a straight, I get the same thing, either "you've got to be crazy..." or, "hope you have a lot of bandaids..."
Everyone is a wise ass, but whatever, I'm not doing it for them. The only one who matters is my wife, and she's suddenly unable to keep her hands and lips off my cheeks every night, so I must be doing something right.
Good Luck searching the attics for her grandfather's stuff!

I started with a Pakistani-made blade and very little education, so people thought I got into a knife fight. Now I get some polite curiosity.
