First Shave with a STRAIGHT!
I've been a member here for a couple of weeks now. I purchased some razors from the local antique mall and the folks here at SRP were kind enough to recommend a few honemeisters that could restore/hone these razors into a shave ready collection.
I chose Ken from RupRazor.com and sent him 3 razors, a Genco, Boker and an Elliot. I put the razors in the mail on Monday, February 4th and today I got them all back shave ready!!!! These blades look great and they all pass the HHT.
Ken, you are a true craftsman!
Luckily, I had already viewed Lynn's DVD and I have a DOVO linen and leather strop so I was ready for my first shave!
I picked the Genco for my first attempt, stropped the blade on the leather side about 25 times and then went after my face like I was carving a Thanksgiving Turkey.
The shave went rather well, but I still have a little bit of roughness on my neck on both sides just south of the jawline.
I am right-handed so using my left hand was a little scary as was not being able to see every detail of my face as I was shaving.
The whole process probably took me at least half an hour, but I consider it a success, since there was no blood and I got at least as good a shave as a dull Fusion razor (on the areas I mentioned above on my neck).
Can't wait for my next shave!!!!!!!!

Awe shucks, I'm glad you like them. Try experimenting with a very light grip and slightly adjusting your angles. That Genco is a gem!

Gratz on a successful shave and the awesome turn-around time on the restores!
I'm still waiting on my brush to arrive, but I tend to be a bit impatient at time I suppose. I'm just psyched to get started doing this!
