Warm rinse. Cold rinse to close pores. After shave with a little cold water when skin is dry.

I use a bit of cool water just to refresh my skin a bit. Nothing too cold.

One of my wife's friends was a make-up and skin care guru and was discussing something similar with my daughters. Her advise was (in their case) to wash their face and always finish up with cool/cold water to close up the pores to reduce skin problems. She was also an advocate of using a good astringent after as well. All together, it helps reduce black-heads and infections and keeps the skin healthier.
Makes sense to me and works good AFAIK. Again it may well be a preference thing, but I will rinse with warm water to get all of the remaining soap/lather off, then follow with cold. Finish up with some aftershave mixed with witch hazel and I'm off and running.
As a side-note, I have noticed that since I started using a str8 (vice an electric) and following up with a rinse and my AS mix, my skin is MUCH clearer in general.

Alcohol ages the skin so I avoid using aftershave.

I rinse with warm water to ensure that I get all of
the lather off of my face. I then rinse with cold
water to tighten the pores and because it feels
nice!
YMMV
