Thanked: 0Tah Dah
Hi, I actually found this forum through another forum club stogie. where we discuss stogies. A couple of us were talking about shaving and what not and got into straight razors. As I have always wanted to use one after the barber intorduced me to it. I couldn't find enough resources untill someone mentioned this website and I can't wait to purchase my first razor, along with brush and strop.
thanks I can't wait, and yes I have read some of the newbies stickies lol I HAVE read them.. lol...

Thanked: 7I can tell from your post that you've got the enthusiasm to make it work - don't let any early setbacks discourage you.

Don't make any plans for family
photos anytime soon . It's
bound to happen, the cuts and
nicks. As was mentioned, don't
let it discourage you, it will get
better with time. I've only been
shaving with a str8 for a few weeks
now and can feel the shave getting
better each time. Good luck and
welcome to the forum.

welcome to srp. don't worry about setbacks at all - it's just a sharp piece of steel that cuts the whiskers. whether it's the whole blade that's exposed, or just the very edge, makes no difference in how it cuts. keep no pressure and don't move it along the edge and you'll be perfectly fine.

Hey ice. I'm entirely new to this as well. have been checking out videos on the tube (theres a rather good 3part introduction by a nice fella there) and reading here, as well as the few short blobs of info they have at classicshaving. I'm so new in fact that my order has yet to be deducted from my bankaccount. Was really hopeing that I could have the starter kit I put together myself saturday the latest.
Chances of that are very slim though now. Was really looking forward to showing up at a birthdayparty with ~20 or so nicks.
ps: does anyone know if classicshaving is on holiday or somesuch? or does it usually take a few workdays for them to get deduct the money and send materials? ( I have no idea if its just a few people running it or some large conglomerate)Last edited by Chady; 02-19-2008 at 01:40 AM.

I went over to that cigar forum. And just to prove I can mirror their attitude about a shaving forum.
"Why the heck would anybody make a forum about cigars?"
Welcome!
