    Default First Shave

Yesterday, my new Dovo Special from Classic Shaving arrived from honing at Lynn's, and today was my first shave. I did a creditable first try, managing not to nick myself and getting most of my face more closely shaved than ever before. The chin, of course was somewhat rough--that'll take waaaay more practice--but my cheeks and throat were almost baby smooth after two passes. I struggled at first to get the angles right, but found that if I let the razor lead, I could follow.

By the by: I did the first pass with just Truefitt 1805 shave cream, and the second with a layer of Taylor's pre-shave balm. The Taylor's appreciably smoothed out the razor's glide.

Lynn did a great job on the honing.

    Default Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. What a singular act it is, shaving with an elegant, dangerous, and delicate blade. I look forward to tomorrow.

Congrats on the good shave! I have yet to experience mine...hopefully tomorrow!

Also, could someone please explain the term RAD? I've seen this a number of times but failed to find a definition...

    Thanks!
