Thanks, I'll try again tonight... almost not enough stubble to warrant it, but it will at least be practice and an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Well, kudos to those who suggested stropping. I went slo-mo last night, strop taught, and no pressure (just the weight of blade). 20 passes, and viola!! passes the HHT.
Shaved only WTG and XTG, skipped the ATG. Minimal pressure (vertical sections tried to just do weight of blade.. other areas tried to match similar pressure against skin).
Compared to first shave I'd say it was an incremental increase along the lines
comfort +2
closeness -1
skill +2
On a scale of 100 or so.
Funny, I guess all newbs do this... I've been reading this stuff for a month telling myself "I'm gonna get it right". And then.. the time comes... and I still make the dumb newb mistakes though I've read all of them how many times?
At least I did not hack my face up or anything.

Thanked: 267It is really important to keep it simple when you start. You did amazingly well for the first time. It will come very naturally as you go along. There will be a day in a little more than a month when shaving will to another plateau and you will feel somewhat in "control". In the mean time just enjoy the journey. Oh! by the way when you get a really good shave aftershaves will not really burn, they will tell you where you did not do something right.
Good luck,

Thanked: 44Hey so that aftershave is alchohol based and will not burn when you are not irritating your face. Right now it is anticeptic for you skin so make your own call but later when you are better at it it will be cooling and make your face better.

Yes, I will start using aftershave again... Just want to give it a little time for me to learn technique.
