Clauss are supposed to be good and very collectable. I have a couple that bear the inscription: "FREMONT.C.U.S.A."
The legend on the box reads: "Clauss Shear Works. Fremont. Ohio. USA."
I've not actually tried using them yet, tho'.

Thanked: 4942These razors generally are very nice shavers. They made a 6/8 model with USMC on the shank. Some in good condition make their way to ebay now and again. Check this out for some history of manufacturers. I believe Clauss is in here http://www.uniclectica.com/misc/manuf.html
We have this and a lot of great information in our links and Help Files & Information sections.

Thanked: 13249Excellent so far!!!!
I have had 2 of these razors so far, one is in my rotation, the other one, the USMC 6/8, is in the hands of a veteran Marine, and srp member cat28 (I figured he deserved it more than anyone)
We both enjoy them, they are usually very straight forward shavers....

Thanked: 116Just picked up one of these at an antique shop in Ontario (Canada) it's a certified chopper measuring in at over 15/16ths at the toe and over 7/8 at the heel. All it says on the tang is "Clauss Fremont O". Will upload pics when I return home from Christmas holidays

Thanked: 480Brooksie, thats the biggest Clauss I have heard of! I have a few 5/8 size myself, and I think they are terrific shaves when done up right. What sort of grind on that beastie?

Thanked: 116She's a hollow ground but feels much stiffer than some of my full hollows like my DD Pearledge. I'll dare to guess it's a 1/2 hollow based on comparing it to the wiki here. Pics will have to wait until next week, sorry bout that! I can't wait to get it shave ready!
