Default Anyone ever get any DEEP cuts

Just curious if any of the more experienced shavers ever got any deep cuts when they started (or when they didn't start for that matter!)

What's your definition of deep? More than 1/8 inch or 3mm for our metric friends?

Yes. Don't try a scything motion on your chin (or any protrusion) with a dull blade. It can cut right through your face. I lopped off a small piece of flesh on my chin a few years ago. I call it my "learning divot".

When we suggest you shouldn't start with a self honed blade, we really, really mean it.

Yea, if it were symmetrical it would be killer with the ladies, unfortunately its off center by about 1/2 inch. Just my luck.

Less-than-sharp razors have got to be the number 1 cause of
nicks and cuts, especially deep one.

+1 on that and dull razors develop bad habits that keep on giving!

I've never cut my face deeply but not long ago I was admiring a newly-honed edge when the damned thing slipped and basically folded up on the end of my thumb. It didn't hit the skin hard at all but it just went in like the proverbial hot knife in butter - I couldn't believe it, it didn't even hurt much (well not until later anyway!) . The only thing that stopped it was the nail and it dug about 1/16" into that as well. I guess it went in about 3/8 of an inch or more in total. Bled like hell of course but the cut was so clean it didn't need stitches and there's now not even a scar that you can see easily.

And yes the razor did need re-honing!

    Default Deepest Cut!!!

Now not to brag, and knocking on wood here, but on the face no, hardly any cuts, but then again I use a straight to "straighten around my beard...
Now on the finger, well that's my stupid move of all time, I was wiping off a blade after shaving, and for some odd reason, I did it backward of my normal hold in right, wipe with left, and took a nice wedge outta my finger... Yeah that left a mark all right, had to use that blood clotting powder to seal it up.... All it takes is 1 second of inattention and 3 inches of the sharpest steel around
