HEADS!!
Anybody shave their heads? Im looking for maybe a video so I can learn how to shave with a straight razor. no.....not mine lol but my husband. He enjoys when I shave him with regular razors but he has takin an interest in straight razors. I have till Christmas to learn all I need to know. well, as much as I can anyway. Any advice, tips and suggestions would be great. ie...Does the razor make a difference if you are shaving someone as apose to shaving yourself? I have read posts about newbie starter kits....Still a good idea? etc. etc.etc..I need all the help I can get!! Thanks in advance.

I think there may be one on youtube.
Do a search using "straight razor" and flick through the vids.
In all honest, I would recommend getting a DE or double edge razor for head shaving. That way, you don't need to get it honed or stropped.
Good luck.

Edit: I know that the beauty salons over here do courses on straight razor shaving.
This is a 3rd person view of a straight shave, albeit not a head shave.

Still the best one I've seen.

Thanked: 1I shave my head. I've tried using a sraight razor, but I find the denser hair on top pulls no matter what. It's also difficult (relatively) to keep the angle.
Someone (on here, i think) some time back said he uses one, and uses a finger along the spine to maintain the angle where he cannot see. Of course, he may not be going for BBS, since he shaves his once a week.
I go for BBS. I feel better using a DE razor.
Also, I've heard heads described as 'all chin' and such. Just be careful.

Thanked: 1587I shave my head every day with a straight. It really just boils down to knowing how to use a straight razor, so any info. you can get from here is useful, head or not.
I'm not sure any tips I can give you would be very useful though. I've shaved other people's heads with a straight before, and it's different to doing your own. One thing I would say is to start with a single pass only, don't try going against the grain first up.
And make sure whoever you are shaving doesn't move unexpectedly! (Don't crack any funny jokes halfway through... )

Thanked: 0i tried shaving my head with a straight four or five times. if you're going for a ritualistic, lengthy process sure, go for it. if you're looking for a daily go-to, get a DE. my biggest issue? cut fingers the back of your own head may be harder to shave than the back of someone else's though
