Thanked: 0My first buy.
Hello everyone, I have been looking into getting myself a straight razor for quite some time now, and have been bidding away on ebay for the past week on various inexpensive razors.
I finally won an auction for a razor, it cost me $7 + $3S/H. The seller listed it as a F.A. Nippel blade, and it looks okay. I plan on using this razor to start learning honing/polishing/sharpening and maybe if it turns out good ill try to shave with it
Here is a picture, I will take more once it is shipped to me.
So my question for the pros out there, does it look salvageable?
Thanks alot!

it might take some work, but it looks salvagable to me, the blade looks like it went through a honing ordeal, since it looks a bit crooked

and for 10$ it isn't that bad I paid 26$ for one that was in worse

Thanked: 0So it will be possible to hone out the slight curve on the one end?
I am pretty excited to finally experiment with straights

No, to get the rolled tip level you would have to grind the rest of the blade to a nub. You ca hone it like that, you just have to roll the blade as you reach that tip, which is how it got that way to begin with. As long as the edge is not rusted/pitted up, you could hone it as is and use it. The edge and spine are the important parts, the steel between them just holds everything in place.

Looks like a fun project! I have this new problem, where I don't care how bad of shape the razor is in...if it's a good price, I buy it!
Maybe the beginnings of RAD??
