Default Gonna give this a try

well i dont know very much about this whole straight razor thing but i do know that straight razors are pretty bad ass so i wanna give it a try. i just bought a Wapienica 9/16 NOS from some guy in poland for like 21. My understanding is that i cant use it as is and i have to send it to someone to get sharpened. Also, i dont have any other tools like a strop and such so does this mean i have to get those before i can use it or can i use for a bit and then make the bigger investment?

    Thanks For Your help

You should get a strop right off the bat, but your first shave shouldn't require one since the hone will still be new.

You can pick up a strop from Tony Miller for $30. Tony's site is www.thewellshavedgentleman.com

You should only need the razor, strop and soap to start out (and even some think the soap is optional! )

+1 on kasperitis' recommendation of TM's strop.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I would recommend sending it to one of the honemiesters here on the boards. They will get your razor "Shave-ready". Go HERE (1/4 of the way down the page) for a list of guys who offer honing services.
