Thanked: 31st shave done.. Boy did that feel good
Well i tried the first shave today.
And i will NEVER EVER EVER(!!!) go back to cartridges.
Altho i only went with WTG this time, it appears that i am now confident enough to throw out my Fusion.
The shave isnt as clos as i imagine it could be, but again, this was a 1st and i took it real easy, so i guess with more practice it will get closer and closer
Only 2 nicks on the left part of the throat, but nothing the alum block couldnt fix.
Upper lip and jaw was a bit tricky but it's good enough for now.
I might have cheated a bit on the stropping, but the razor seems sharp enough to proceed.
However i have one little question;
Should i try to hone with my 6k(6k was the finest hone i could get), just to bring the razor up to speed??
No honemeister have touched it yet, and as mentioned, location makes it difficult to send it for honing. I will have to learn the hard way..
Thanks
Hector

If you are getting acceptable results I would suggest that you just keep using the razor as it is. It's likely that your shaves will improve with continued practice and that the razor will smooth out a bit (due to stropping) for a while before it needs to be touched up. In the interim, take a look at JoshEarl's post about pasting a strop (it's a sticky in the strops forum) and consider that as a way to keep your edge tuned up prior to honing. Your 6K stone may be a little coarse to be used as a finishing hone so I don't know if it will actually improve your current edge.
If you like straight shaving you could send a razor out to one of the Honemeisters closest to you or just pick up a shave ready razor from someone on the forum. The turn around time might be longer than normal, but at least you would have a good point of reference.Last edited by Bill S; 04-02-2008 at 01:43 PM.
