Thanked: 3My story with introduction
Well, I figured it was time to come out of the lurking area into the mainstream of things and introduce myself finally. I started shaving with a straight about a year ago. Found this board a couple of months ago and joined. Since becoming a member, I have found myself stricken with RAD and a mild case of HAD, although I try to keep that one under control. You know, less money spend on hones means more money to spend on razors
.
Needless to say, I started off with a nice, inexpensive 5/8 Dovo, then went to a nice 6/8 TI. Shortly after that I found this board and all of a sudden found myself owning several other razors snatched off of the Bay. Seems there's another affliction floating around that no one talks about much. I find myself buying and restoring razors quite often! From simple cleaning to complete sanding and making new scales. Maybe a new disorder...razor restoration disorder. Funny, I didn't even think about doing that until I found this board. As a matter of fact, I didn't even have RAD until I found this board. Ah well, at least I learned everything I know about restoration and honing from this board without having to ask one single question!

Thanked: 9The only thing I have to disagree with is I've seen no shortage of people talking about their RAD. Not me though, I'm unafflicted...

Welcome! I know what you mean about the "friends=scared" issue. Most of mine think I'm nuts to use a straight...lol I love it.
