New guy!
Hello everyone...
I'm new to this forum... I've been on B&B for a few months. This summer I hope to dice into Straight Razor Shaving... so I thought I'd introduce myself and start getting my research together. Any tips are welcome. Also... is there a place to learn how to straight razor shave?I live in Toronto Ontario, Canada and I wish to learn how to do it properly... the whole 9 yards... stropping, honing etc. I wish to learn the correct way to avoid frustration and ensure I keep my blade in good condition (once I get one)
Any tips or suggestion for starting out are welcome to be posted here for me or PMed to me.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post,

welcome,,you came to the right place. just about anything you need to learn will be in one post or another. My recomendation is to sit down and start reading. You'll find just about all of us here are willing to lend out advice freely and willingly to all your questions. It would be a BIG plus to get Lynn's dvd. You can order from here in the forums and the advice plus the visual it gives a newcomer is well worth the price you pay for it. Other then that, START SLOW and enoy...RAD is coming your way..
Having Fun Shaving

Welcome aboard! There is SO much information on this board that you will have plenty of reading material into the summer!
Definitely read the stickies, check out the library on the home page, and I would DEFINITELY suggest getting Lynn's DVD (can be found in the B/S/T. It shows proper stopping, shaving, honing techniques, and more.
See ya around!!

Thanked: 2the first mistake I made in straight shaving was buying a razor that was not "shave ready" pay the extra $20 (or so) to get your razor honed by a pro before you get it. The difference is really amazing.

Just wondering Mr. Todd- did the movie actually get you interested in straight shaving or were you into it before you knew about Sweeney? Obviously you could have known about it as a broadway show, etc. but your avatar is obviously from the Burton film... It's just something that a lot of guys have wondered- whether or not the movie will popularize straight shaving. Seems so far like it has.
