    Default Firt time

Just purchased Dovo Black Star, thought presharpened meant shave ready and did not yet watch Lynn's instuctional video(oops) So anyway I shaved but it pulled like mad and didnt yield the greatest results. I do have the Norton waterstones and will hone my new razor but I have an old Franz Swaty barbers hone from my great grandfather- would this suffice as the final polishing(12,000grit) stone? Also can I use my strop safely without any paste application??

The Swaty is a nice finisher, once you get the hang of it.

Your strop? Is it new? What kind? They are usually ready to go but not always and if its vintage it could be anything.

The strop I'm using is a new "Illonois" strop, there is the number 127 at the bottom. So I'm assuming the decency remark pertains to my Franz hone, any recommendations for a 12,000 or higher hone that wont be very expensive?

I thik you mistoke my sig line for part of the post.

The Swaty is a great finishing hone. Barbers hones can be a little tricky to get the hang of. Compared to a Norton that is.
