Thanked: 0Newbie returning to wet shaving after using electric for years!
Hi, my names Mike, 29, from London, England.
I used to shave with all the 'flash' Gillettes, MACHS etc etc. Then went onto using an electric Phillishave. I used this since Sept 2000 and it recently broke.
I have now decided to go back to wet shaving and thought Id go the old school way of a straight edge razor.
This is why Ive registered on this forum. Ive been reading up and have decided on one of two 'starter packages' and am seeking advice on what one to go for. One admitadly is slightly expensive but then Im assuming its because its DOVO. Although including P&P to the Uk its only £40 more plus it comes with a shaving mug.
Please be honest in what you would recomend and Im also open to other suggestions for my first straight razor.
Mike.

Welcome to the forum. I like the first choice the best. A good strop and the DVD are nice additions for a beginner. But, get whatever calls to you.

MrSkipsey,
I would recommend making sure you have the razor honed. Did you purchase the extra honing option with the razor? It will add on some extra time, but you will not regret it. If you need any info on what shave-ready is, there is a good sticky on the main page of the Newbie section.

I would call Classic Shaving and see if they can add it to your order if they haven't already shipped.
If not, there are a number of guys on SRP that offer honing services, and for reasonable prices. I believe there is one near UK, but not sure. Either way, they will probably post in this thread shortly

Thanked: 0I was thinking of just ordering the hand honing service and paying for it with a note explaining the cock up on my side and my original order reference number and hoping that they can combine the two orders together.
Im not sure of the area code to call them from the Uk. Plus being a Sunday will they be open?

I doubt they are open on Sunday's, but then again I'm not sure.
Classic sends their razors to Lynn Abrams, the founder of this site. He does a fantastic job on razors, and you will be very pleased.
