Thanked: 15What about mentoring a newb?
As a newb that first str8 shave is only a delivery away, and I got to thinking.
Has anyone considered setting up a mentoring programme?
I think it would be great if there was some way of hooking up with an experienced str8 shaver locally who was prepared to help with advice, tips and technique.
I realise that all this information is available on this forum, but there is nothing more easily understood than a good demonstration and explaination. I suppose ultimately it is the 'father roll' that years ago existed, but is now no longer present.

Thanked: 2This idea would be a LOT easier if everyone put their location on the Google Map! Then we could see who was where!

I've mentioned before, we could mentor via web cam too.

Thanked: 15That's not a bad idea either.
I was thinking help with stropping technique and honing. I guess the shaving itself is pretty much grasp the basic concepts and go and practice.

Thanked: 9I'm on there now. I was surprised at how many people there are! Looks like a good number have taken the time to add themselves. Looks like a whole lot of people on the east coast too.

The SRP meets are a good for this as well. They even do "How to Hone" sessions, which would be really good hands-on.
