Thanked: 11Third shave - the best one yet!
So, I had my third shave with the Shavette today. I'm still on two WTG passes, but I did try som XTG action on the cheeks and it worked like a charm. I wanted to try som XTG on the neck as well, but I could not for the life of me find a hold that wasn't awkward. And if the hold is awkward, you will cut yourself.
I actually got my first real cut today and I'm glad that that's out of the way. I was stretching the skin on my neck, and as my knife-holding hand came down, it got pushed sideways by my skin-stretching hand. Nothing serious, but it's a nice, red cut. A manly man's cut. Or an inattentive schmuck's cut. Take your pick.
My technique has improved drastically just these three shaves I've had. Each one has been closer and less hard on the skin than the last. This one left almost no burning sensation. I didn't really need to put on the aftershave balm, I just did it because I like it.
So, now I'm only waiting for an opening in the budget large enough for a strop, so that I may try out the shave-ready Wapi I picked up from a helpful forumite. I do expect it to be a different experience than the Shavette, but I do hope that at least the technique I learn comes in handy.

Congrats! Sounds like you're having fun!
It'll get really fun when you can start stropping up that Wapi and using it.

Thanked: 11It really is a lot of fun. I find myself looking forward to shaving. With my Fusion, shaving was something I didn't really want to do, so I kept postponing it until I looked like a hobo.
With the straight, any hint of stubble is all the excuse I need to lather up and shave away!

You should give one of Colleen's soaps a try...I think you would really like them. I prefer the Cavendish Black, but they are all good.
