Thread: Always Learning

Morning All,

The title says it all! I've been straight shaving for 3-4 weeks now, and have seen some nice progress to date, however, this morning's shave was the best so far.
Thanks to all for your input and suggestions. This site is great! My latest revelation came with regards to stropping. I've been reading about correct stropping techniques here, and I've found that I've been using too much pressure on both the linen and leather sides. This morning, I did 15 light strokes on the linen and 50 on the leather, and the result was a greatly improved shave with far less irritation.
This in combination with improving technique leads to a smooth, enjoyable shave.

Congrats Gary! I agree, this is a fantastic and very informative website. The stropping post by Allen was a GREAT read, and brought many of us back to the basics...which is a good thing.
