Thanked: 11Fourth shave - target in sight
Something weird happened today. I was sitting at work, and all of a sudden I got the urge to shave. I sat longing for the feeling of the warm towel on my face, the smell of the thick, creamy lather and the scraping sound of the razor wiping whiskers off my face. A month ago shaving was something I hated doing. What's happening to me?
Two passes for this shave too. First one WTG, second one XTG to a much greater degree than my previous shave. The neck was still problematic finding holds for going XTG, but I reckon I did OK. Some patches ended up being more ATG than XTG, but I don't sweat it too much. End result: near-BBS all over! There were a few pathces - upper lip, chin and just below my left ear - that weren't exactly BBS, but I'll get them soon.
The lather dried up on my face for both passes this time, so I spent some time after shaving to experiment with the lather. It turns out that I could put quite a bit of water into it without it losing its composure. Duly noted for future shaves.
Lastly, a question for Shavette users: how many shaves do you get from a blade? After four shaves, I imagine my blade being noticeably duller, but this might just be my imagination. Any experiences?

Congrats on the shave. I know what you mean about hating the old method. I would let it grow out until my wife couldn't stand it any longer and started complaining. LOL

I get two
I get two good ones, third one is ok, but feels like I'm really stretching it. Double sided blades are quite cheap, so I think I'll just stop at two since now on. I tried a few different manufactures and can't say that German made is better then anything.
I use regular short double sided blade snapped in half, it makes it 4 shaves. Last week tried a long one and hated it so much, it was dragging and ready to cut me any second, so I stopped and just use a short one. Just wonder if I got a bad blade. It was Merkur, German made, so it was strange, may be will try it again this weekend.

Congratulations on your great shaving progress. With my Feather AC, I typically get 5-6 shaves out of a blade. But if the blade starts to pull, it comes out regardless of the number of shaves.
Keep on keepin' on... and Congrats again
