Default My mom is sending me a mug and brush, identify?

Hey guys, so, my mom knows about how Im shaving with a straight blade now, and I was talking to her on the phone the other day and she told me how she has a brush and mug that she bought off ebay -- she wasnt sure why she did. (a while ago)

Anyway, the mug doesnt look too bad, will be an upgrade from my coffee mug I have atm. The brush looks like maybe boar hair, dunno. What do you guys think?

Mug says Ship Grand Turk / Salem ~ 1786

She slapped these in the mail to me today so I'll have em in a few days

The mug is no doubt an Old Spice mug. These were sold with a cake inside, and you could buy refills. It looks like the brush was also part of the set, and yes I believe it is boar's hair.

EDIT: I've seen the OS refills sell on eBay for pretty cheap...been wanting to try one.

EDIT: OS made about 16 or 17 different styles of these mugs, dating back to the late 1930's. This particular style was manufactured from 1970-1992.

Looks like one of my mugs as well. Old Spice cranked out a lot of 'em over the years, I guess. It's a nice mug--comfortable in the hand and just fits an Old Spice- or Williams-sized puck. I hadn't thought of the brush being part of a set with it, but think it might be--because I also have a brush that looks like that, that I've had for so long I've forgotten where it came from. It's OK, boar, does the job.

I think i may use that same brush, is it dark blue kinda plasticky feeling? Works fine for me, i like the "scratchy" feeling.

The brush in the picture is most def boar, try to store it standing up so the bristles dont bend any more then they already are, im not sure how much the bent bristles would effect shaving tho...

When ever I see those OS mugs on ebay I'm always tempted to make a bid. It's just a matter of time and I'll give into the urge and actually bid on
    one.
