Default Engraving on Scales? Where to have it done?

    Hello,
I have a Dovo Bismarck, the bone scales have a metal plate on them that looks to be for having initials engraved. I've never done anything like that before, and the info I see online all has to do with either having stores engrave their own stuff before sending it to you, or etching other things (everything I found on SRP was etching related). If anyone could point out a place that does engraving of already owned objects I'd appreciate it. I'm nervous that an engraver might wreck the blade, but they might be scared enough to treat it very carefully as well, who knows. Extra thanks if anyone knows an engraver local to Orange County, CA

    Thanks!
    Rob

I'd try the local shopping mall. If there's a store in there called "Things Remembered," you just may be in luck. They specialize in engraving collectible items that they sell, but I believe that they'll engrave anything...for a price, of course. It's worth a try.

Edit: This is from their website: "We Engrave Gifts Purchased Elsewhere
No matter what the gift or where you purchased it, we can engrave the item for that extra, personal touch. Simply bring your item to any of our 600 nationwide mall locations and one of our experts will carefully engrave it, usually in 24 hours or less."

Find their locations around your area here:

If you want laser etching, oldblades has the tools, does great work and it is a fraction of the normal cost.

Before you commit to Things Remembered, you might want to check at any trophy supply store. They may engrave for a fraction of what TR charges. If I remember correctly, TR has a hefty surcharge for items to be engraved when purchased at a store other than TR.
