    Randy,

Just tried what you said it didnt feel like an improvement but afterwards I had no razor burn, so it must be doing something good, I will keep at it. Can I go too far with the stropping and if so how will i know?

    Thanks

    David

If you continue and shave test frequently then you should have no problem. An abrasive pasted paddle strop is one of the slowest methods because of the low density of abrasive grain per square inch of leather. This does not mean that you should add more to the strop. In fact if you have to much on the leather it is counterproductive. The proper amount is when the leather appears "mottled" and looks like it does not have enough on it to make a difference. If abrasive grain is being accumulated on the razor as you hone then you have to much on the strop. Wipe it off with a paper towel.

If you go to that thread and look at post 5 WildTim told me about Japanese Slip stones. The 4K and 8K are about 35$ shipped thats together not each.
    heres the link he gave
    http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/M...egory_Code=THW

that and a leather bench strop with Chromium Oxide paste should get it.
I haven't had a chance to pick them up yet, I have been told they cut slower than the Norton stones.
    Hope this helps

Right thanks for all the input fellas.

If anyone could answer what SFK means in the context of wapi's please share, and the significance of stamped/unstamped wapi's again please share.

Right all things considered I am going to wait till payday and buy a 4k/8k norton and a flattening stone from Howard, these stones are so well documented on here that it means I can eliminate equipment from the "why is this not getting sharper" question. And it means I have nothing to blame but my technique.

The stone and flattening stone with delivery from USA is still slightly cheaper than just the stone bought in england!

So after payday I will have a norton 4k/8k, a Wapi a Dovo strop and some pasted balsa strops. which I think is everything I will need.

    Cheers

SFK is either a mfg. mark like GM or a model like Chevrolet.

    Hard to know for sure.
