Well...its done!
Ok, I got the nerve to try my first str8 shave today...it was interesting.
I probably didn't strop the blade/hold at the right angle/shave in the right direction...but its done.
It didn't turn out too bad. The razor pulled a little, which I'm positive is all me.
I did my cheeks, I didn't switch hands so that made it a little more interesting...I need to be a contorsionist (sp?)...or I need to learn to switch hands!
I did my neck a little which turned out be eaiser than my cheeks.
Lathered up again to do the 2nd pass, got a little full of myself...got 3 nicks and a good lesson.
Oh, one more question....is there ACID in that damn Styptic pencil????
That'll definately make you want to slow down and pay attention!!!
Anyway, just thought I would post that the first of many nicks/shaves is in the books.
Although, I won't count this as the first real shave...I shaved a little and learned alot!

Good for you!
I say the first time you put blade to face and enjoy it, you have had your first shave! They only get better from here. Have fun, ask questions, and keep posting on your progress!

Way to go. If I remember right the styptic pencil label says "sting free", ya, right. It does get better as you use it. The learning curve is stiff but well worth the trouble. A 45 minute shave at first is not uncommon. I can do a two pass very close shave now in 7 minutes, if I have to. That takes concentration! My normal "comfy" shave takes about 15 minutes.
