Holy Scalpel Batman!!
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Careless, careless, careless. Hopefully, lesson learned, learned, learned.
In the process of wiping off my razor, I managed to slide my right middle finger along the business end. It is amazing how little time it takes to fill up your sink with blood. Fortunately, as I have read here before, the cut was so straight that no stitches were required. Pain, and embarrassment, are penalty enough.
Note to self: one little moment of stupidity and inattention can be costly. Another life lesson from straight razor shaving.

Stay Focused!
I can't tell you how many times I have cut my fingers one way or another! I'm just one of those people that cuts themselves a lot. I think I inherited that trait from my Mother.
I usually will have my over active mind somewhere else. Go figure...
This will be a continual lesson that I will need to be forever aware of at all times when I have a str8 razor in my hand.
Good luck,
Steve

Not too long ago, I cut into one of my fingers but didn't even notice it until about 12 hours later. It just sliced through the top layer of skin, but obviously I wasn't paying attention.

Heh, my FIL was asking and asking about a straight razor setup, so I got him lined up for Father's Day 2 years ago. First thing he did was knock the edge off with terrible stropping which I had to fix. Second thing he did was cut the pad of one of his fingers off. Hasn't touched the blade since.

A-yah... happened to me 'bout 4 weeks ago... sliced my thumb wicked good while wiping the blade with some paper towel... it was mostly dry, and I used too much pressure... it stuck then slipped, and my thumb went right into the edge (note to self: you don't need 2 tons of pressure to dry off razor!)
Thankfully, it wasn't down to the bone. But it sure bled like a stuck pig. Cyanoacrylate (CA, superglue) is my friend. I'm looking at my thumb now, and it's hard to imagine that it was cut that deep less than a month ago. Those clean cuts heal nicely, a small consolation, but good news nonetheless.
