Thanked: 5I bought me some straight razors!
I have been considering buying a straight razor for some time but have been hesitant because of the cost. My other half, though, one day told me of an internet site that sells them pretty cheap- her friend bought some. After searching around here about opinions of the brand (I found positive posts), I bought some. Here's what I bought-
Traditional kit- http://www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk/starterkits.html
Two straight razors (I thought that I might as well get two while I'm there)- http://www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk/page83.html
I will get a 4000/8000 hone some time soon- how can I tell that a razor needs honing?
My razors will arrive "at the end of next week" according to the email I was sent. I'm getting pretty excited about this! :P

Thanked: 5Small world, eh?
I'm quite looking forward to them coming in- well, almost as much as my anticipation for my new grain mill! (I brew beer)

Thanked: 84Magic Word alert - BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, I can see you are thinking of buying from our member blueprinciple (Steve at theinvisibleedge), I have had first class service from him. The Wapi's are really good, so people say. I like his vintage stuff, but I will have to get a Wapi one day.
best wishes and welcome - M. Wales

When your strop no longer realigns your edge sufficiently, then it will be time to hone. Your first clue will be a distinctly uncomfortable pull on the beard while shaving that you cannot remedy by additional stropping. The feeling will be unmistakable.

Thanked: 2Hi,
Just to say I have bought from the Invisible Edge too and Steve is great. It has been an interesting two weeks trying to get the hang of straight razor shaving but so worth it.
I wont bore you with all my problems but it has been such a great experience and these forums are really helpful and you know that someone has been there before.
So welcome and enjoy.

Just like to mention that I bought a Wapi and strop last week from Steve at the invisible edge and the service was excellent. Good speedy delivery and the Wapi was truly shave ready.
