Default Got my first ebay razor

well it came last night, Great price great condition, one small spot rust on the blade that came off with some steel wool.

it was perfect, save for the CRACK IN THE BLADE 1/4 INCH LONG!!!!

Couldn't see it in the picture, wasn't listed in the description,

    grumble grumble

at least it was inexpensive. it would cost more to ship it back than i would get in a refund so I am now the owner of a nice looking paperweight. it is shaveable as the crack is about 3/8ths from the heel of the blade and its just a hairline but it would make me nervous.

The seller is an antique seller not a razor junkie and didn't notice the crack and was apologetic about it offering store credit equal to the price of the razor as I don't want to pay to ship it back. so for a decent price i have something that I can practice honing with and looks nice, JUST CANT SHAVE WITH IT!!!!!!!

Its gonna be hard to hone and not shave with your product. Id tell the seller I wanted ALL my money back and make sure the Ebay protection plan was instituted or the PayPal protection. If seller sold it to be used as a razor, it should be able to use as a razor.

Well, good thing you were not like me. I had the unfortunate luck of buying a Kriegar blade, it only costed $15, but it was a lost $15 on an ornamental blade. I then bought a Wapi from a user on this board for $40 shave ready, guess I could've bought a better blade with the $15 lost, but hey you live and learn.

That being all said, demand your money back.

I might do some home metalsmithing, (I have a background in machining and welding), I'm kinda worried about the integrity of the blade if I go and hack a chunk out of the heel. It would still have well over 2.5 inches of cutting surface left I just know that the thicker area in the heel helps to give the blade some rigidity. At least I didn't spend to much on it
