Thanked: 0New to straight razors and wondering if this was a good purchase?
I'm just getting into straight razor shaving and I decided to purchase a razor to begin with.
I purchased this Clauss Fremont straight razor off of ebay and was wondering whether I got a good deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018
What do you think?
Thanks,
Sam

I've been out of razor buying for a while but it looks to me like you paid a fair price.
The razor isn't mint it has seen a hone a time or two but it is in good to great condition or had a decent restore job done on it.
I like those scales, and the blade should take a good edge from what Ive heard of the brand.
I would send this one to Lynn or one of the other honemeisters to have a really good edge put on it. The lanuage of the seller and his lack of razor knowledge suggests to me that this one is really dull eight now.
Good buy

Thanked: 79I think you did just fine.
I really like the look of that razor, and it appears in great shape. Should make a good shaver. I wouldn't have felt guilty paying that much at all.

You got a nice razor for a fair price. I also agree, send it out for honing. You will have a good shaver.

I sent a few razors to Kenrup for restoration and he did a great job. You should consider his services. Nice pick up.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the info, I'll check into getting somebody to hone it for me. How can you tell that it's been honed previously? Is it because of the marks on the tang?
