Thread: What's the best way to roll-up a strop?

I realize it's probably best store a hanging strop in the hanging position, but if you have to roll up your strop to fit in a shaving kit should you roll it with the stropping surface on the outside or the inside?

With the stropping surface on the outside it might stretch and yield a wrinkled surface when stretched flat again. Rolling it on the inside might form wrinkles which don't disappear stretched.

Stropping surface outside, if you have to. Not inside. And don't roll it tight!

Take a look at the way Tony Miller ships his strops and you know. IIRC hes vegan strops can be rolled much better. Tony also has special travel strops.

For travel I would just get a small paddle strop. Rolling a strop is never a good idea but if you have to, as other have said, do it as loose as possible and for as short a time as possible with stropping surface out.
