    Default DMT 8EE

I feel so dumb asking this question that I am putting it here rather than the honing section.

Is there a preferred side on the DMT 8ee? one side seems to cut much faster and the note inside says that it is already "broken in".

How do you tell which side to use?

Good question. If you don't get an answer I'll move it over to hones for you.

Well... one side has diamonds impregnated on it, and another doesn't. On mine, and every other one I have seen on the intarwebs, if the text is upright you are honing on the correct side!

One side will be `much-faster' -- many orders of magnitude faster. This side
has diamonds embedded in a nickel substrate to abrade the steel of the razor.

The other side is not to be used for honing. Look at the writing on the side of
the hone, it should be right-side up for honing.
