Thanked: 1I need some help!
So I got my razor today, and the first thing i did was hone it for about twn minutes, and then I stropped it.When I lathered up and took it to my face, nothing happened....literally nothing. It wouldn't even take off any hair. Sitting here typing this, I'm just as hairy now as I was before I started honing it. What gives? Did I buy a faulty razor or will I just have to sharpen it a whole lot? It's from some company called Zeepk, by the way. Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanked: 15Zeepk are not a reputed to be a good razor.
Can you tell us what you used to hone it and how you honed it, then members may be able to give you more help.

Razors hardly ever come shave-ready out of the box unless you buy them from a honemeister or have them honed by the vendor.
Zeepk razors will never get shave-ready as they are letter openers in diguise.Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

you'd have better success sharpening a lego brick than a zeepk razor. sorry, you got burned because ebay won't stop the sellers' profiting from these mis-labelled products (it's not a straight razor if it can't shave an adult male's face)

Thanked: 2209Well....first...Welcome to the SRP!
Second... you got junk. That razor will not take and hold an edge.
Don't feel to bad, a whole lot of us have done exactly the same thing.
Most of the new razors on Ebay are of very questionable quality.
For your first razor buy one from the Buy/Sell/Trade forum here and make sure that it is both honed and shave tested. If you buy a new razor, either a Dovo or a TI then they will need to be honed first by one of us.
If you are considering another razor from Ebay feel free to PM me and I will let you know if it is an OK razor or not.

Major,
There are 3 cheap razors that have good reputations around here: 1) Chinese Double Arrow, available on ebay from Stamps222 or on here from KenRup, who will hone it and sell you a whole startup package at a reasonable price; 2) Wapienica, also available on ebay (couldn't tell you the seller off the top of my head, but you'll find it if you search) or from Mike_Ratliff and maybe one or two others on here; or 3) a refurbished vintage razor someone on the B/S/T forum will sell you if you post a WTB and explain your situation. In all cases make sure either that the seller will hone it for you, or you send it to one of the honemeisters you can find on here for the first sharpening. If it's not included with the razor, it will cost you about $15-$20 + shipping.
Good luck!

Thanked: 2209Col Conk does not make their own razors. Who does it for them now is unknown. Maybe someone else can answer that. It is a risk.
The best person to ask would be Lynn Abrams (adjustme69), send him a PM and ask.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
