Newby Advice
First post
I am a newby to straight shaving but have been in search of the perfect shave for years! I have a couple of razors in to Lynn for sharpening (one is a 5/8 Double Duck that belonged to my grandfather). Looking forward (nervously) to my first straight shave.
Can anyone provide their thoughts on two razors. I am considering the 6/8 Dovo Bismarck or the 5/8 Prima Klang. The Bismarck is a little less expensive and I would like to save a few dollars if it is worth it. Would one or the other be better for a newby starting out?
Any advice would be welcome and much appreciated.

Thanked: 12Both are good razors, but my vote is for the 5/8 prima klang. I own 2 and they are some of my best shavers. Keep in mind this is only my opinion though. Everyone is different, and what works for me may be horrid for you.

5 or 6 years ago I bought my first new razor, the DOVO Bismark Super from classic shaving, it was wonderful right out of the box, strop and shave. I've probably got thirty razors ready to go on the shelf. The little Dovo is my sweetheart razor, honest to God me and that little girl have a thing goin' on. I know nothing of the Prima Klang, but either way I would bet you would be fine.

Thanked: 2209I would not buy either one. First I would try different grinds/sizes and see what suits you best. Since you already have a 5/8 full hollow then next I would try a 5/8 or 6/8 W&B type wedge. The next step would be a 6/8 or 7/8 full hollow grind razor.
