Thanked: 0New to the forum and purcahsed my first straight this weekend
I picked up three straights from a flea market this weekend. and picked up three straights. I posted about each of them individually in the razors section.
Feather Weight
The Celebrated
Wade & Butcher
I don't have a lot of money and want to get one of them shave ready. I bought a shavette that fell apart on me after take it out of the pouch a few times. I might try to find something to replace the pivot pin and get some blades for it.
Any advice on what I should do with them would be great. I might even need to sell one to pay for honing and a strop for another razor.

Thanked: 15You are going to have to give those blades a good cleaning, and get them professionally honed so that they are shave ready.

Thanked: 0What should I use to clean them myself and what should I avoid? I've used soap and water on the scales, bar keepers friend to polish them a bit, and oiled them a little. I'd hate to send a nasty looking razor to someone to have it honed.

Welcome.
You can use a metal polish like Maas or Flitz to clean them up a little.
