Thanked: 2honemeisters and/or supplies in the UK
So I've given it a couple of weeks with a shavette and things are going great. I've deviced to take the plunge and go for a real straight. Does anyone know of any decent suppliers in the UK preferably in the Cambridge area?
I would prefer someone who could give some advice on stropping and honing (I've watched the vids but there is no substitute for watching the real thing) or even someone who could provide honing services.
Failing that can anyone reccomend a good barber in the area that could give some advice and a decent shave. I've seen so many of these guys with the strop hanging from the back of the chair but have no clue that people still use straight razors. Besides I've never had a barber shave and I guess that could be an experience in itself.
Cheers

Trev, there's a guy called Graham (username: poona) who hones for UKers. He's based in N. Ireland but may be about to come to London soon. PM him and he might be able to help.
In terms of learning, you might be interested in the UK get-together in Birmingham on 20 September. You'll pick loads up from that session!
Cheers
M.

Thanked: 84If you want to see some real razor porn and get a REAL new or vintage razor, pretty cheap too .
www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk he ships bloody quick too, honest.
Steve is a member here (blueprinciple) he has just started selling Belgiam coticule bouts too for when you need to hone it up yourself.
Steve knows his onions too!

Thanked: 131Trev you may also be intrested to know that there is a UK meet up coming up. Its taking place in Birmingham in September. There is a thread about it somewhere on SRP- have a search for it. You would do well to be there and meet a bunch of us. I think there is talk of a honing demonstration there.
EDIT: Damn I just noticed M beat me to it in telling you. Oh well.

Yep, myself or Steve. Either or.
I can't vouch for Steve's work personally but I hear great things about him.

Thanked: 84Why not get one from Steve and get Poona to hone one for you too.
We could have a showdown
Only joking it's not a competition
Try them both, then buy a hone and try to emulate the Meisters
Now there is a challange!
Good luck M

Buy some stones in time for the 'meet' I heard that Steve is going to be there for some guidance. That way, you'll be able to go home and try your own sharpening which will be at it's freshest state in your mind.
