    Default soap vs. lather

Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello first of all and a dumb question. Is there a significant difference between using regular shave foam vs soap and bristles mixed in a cup? Sorry if this sounds stupid I am very new to straight razors and very ignorant.
    Thanks,

Yes, there's a big difference. Nothing that comes out of a can is going to lubricate well enough to shave with a straight. Trust me.

    Hi Photoguy 67

    Welcome to SRP

++1 to Johnny J. I tried my first straight shave with some cream & it wasn't pleasant. The difference is like comparing skimmed milk to whipped double cream. Lather's much thicker, when it's done right & helps the blade glide across your chops. I'm fairly sure that it helps to prevent razor burn. I'm still fairly new myself, but hope this helps.

    Enjoy yourself here

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I will take your advice to heart and not try the canned foam. LOL
