All of the above is good advice. What I do different is to use liquid dish soap to clean the razor. Just a drop on a wet blade, rubb it around and rinse off. Then wipe the blade dry with TP, strop the edge for a bit, 10 laps or so, and let air dry. Then oil and store
The liquid dish soap really removes the soap scum from the blade.

If I am thinking clearly then before I start to shave I put a drop of oil on the pivot pin.

    Just my two cents,

Isopropyl comes in a variety of strengths: 50%, 70%, 90% and 95-99%. I prefer the 95+ %, as it will absorb about twice the amount of water as the 50%. The easy way to dispense it is from a spray bottle, like is used for eyeglasses cleaner.

I would keep it out of the bathroom. My DEs have turned color in just a few weeks of storage in the bathroom. I could not get the stains out. I use two drops of olive oil if it is more than a day or two.

+1 on this advice. The alcohol that I've found most commonly in the store is only 70%, which means it could be up to 30% water. If you poke around a bit though, you should be able to find some 90%+.

Besides keeping your razors out of the shower area I suggest not storing them in an enclosed space where cleaning supplies are stored. Some cleaners contain caustic ingredients that give off fumes that might eat your razors rather quickly. I once stashed an old Lee Enfield rifle in a metal cabinet where there was a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner AND a damp sponge... Need I say more? After shaving I wedge a cotton swab between the scales up against the tang/pivot area to help draw moisture from the pivot.
