Default Just want to say hello...

I just want o say hello as i am to be a new strsight shaver. Just ordered one and i cant wait for it to come in. I am getting a dovo 5/8 classic off Vintage Blades and cant wait to use it.

I have been wanting to get into straight roazor shaving for a good while but had no idea to start or the range of options until i stumbled my way across this forum one day. There is a ton of valuable information adn i want to say thank you to all the ppl that have already asked the questions that i had and thanks to all of the folks that answered them. I will make sure to drop another line and let everyone know how my first shave went.

Welcome to SRP! I think you'll like that Dovo - I've really liked the ones that I've used. Best of luck on the first shave!!

Hey man, I got through my first shave with my new Dovo yesterday, had been waiting for ages to get one and start shaving. It's intimidating, it's exciting and a great shave in the end....granted you don't mangle your face lol.

It's the greatest thing since sliced bread, you wont' be disapointed

    Default quick question

I have a question about the razors on the "stay away from" list. what are some of the reasons to avoid these brands or are there reasons particular to each company?

Welcome to SRP! In general, razors are on the "stay away from" list due to poor quality of the steel. This leads to razors that simply can't be honed properly in some cases or that will not hold an edge for an acceptable period of time.

    Welcome to the SRP!

If you ever have a question about the quality of a razor just ask here first before you buy anything.

BTW, make sure that the Dovo you bought is honed and shave tested. Fresh from the factory is not honed and shave tested.

thank u very much for the info on the razors. i am really glad that i came across this forum because all the posts here that i have read have given me so much info and i am sure it has save mea good bit of frustation, money, and the possibility of a bad experience with a junk razor.

and i made sure that i got the honing service from vintage blades so it comes to me shave ready. have read much info in here and i want to get a few shaves with a proffessional hone before i try to do any honing myself so i have somethingt to compare to
