Thumbs up 1st Shave with a Straight

    Hey Guys,

So today I finally did it. I had my 1st straight razor shave. I have been shaving with Double-Edge Saftey Razors for half a year now and decided to leap into the world or straights. My original plan was to do just my cheeks with my straight and the rest with a DE to build my confidence slowly. BUt once i did both cheeks and there was no nicks I decided to do my whole face WTG. After completeing that (with no nicks) I decided to re-lather and do the same. I completed the 2nd pass with less hesitation and once again with no nicks. I think this is a success for me. By no means at all was it a close shave... but I got through two whole passes without a nick, and did my first real strop on my 3" Strop from Tony Miller (after practicing on a piece of leather which again was from Tony as well with a practice straight) I did 20 on the canvas and 50 on the leather. The razor I used was a shave ready Robeson Shuredge 5/8 Round which I got from SRP member "rum" (thanks)

I am looking forward to becoming a better straight shaver and learning to hone in the not-so-distant future. Thanks for all the members of SRP for there help , info and wares. All the FAQ and help files. Lynn Abrams for his DVD. You guys are great!

I guess it's just working on technique and blade angle now... if anyone has any helpful tips feel free to post here or send me a PM.

    ~ Jeffrey
