Thread: First Shave

So, I got the Wapi starter kit from Kenrup in the mail yesterday (Thanks for the fast shipping Ken!), and gave it a try. In my eagerness to give it a try, I forgot to re-read how to do everything, as it had been close to a week since I had really read about any shaving technique.
My first problem was in figuring out how to get the lather to work with the soap. Where can I find details on how to work up a lather with a brush/bar soap?
So I am sure that i definitely butchered the proper grip of the razor, though I think I may have it down now. And I forgot the whole pulling the skin tight thing for pretty much the whole time(although when I tried doing so, my hand was slippery enough that it didn't work very well.)
I did a WTG pass on my whole face, and then started to try an ATG on my neck, but it didn't really work out.
I only cut myself a few times throughout the who process, so I guess in that sense it was a success. The shave wasn't that close (okay, it was actually worse than with a disposable razor).
Come tomorrow, I'll give it another try, and we will see if it doesn't get better.

I suspect the veracity of noobs who say they just got a smooth, close shave their first time. Everyone has trouble early on, so don't give up!
